BRIEFING

AI Marketing tripled from 34 to 105 vendors in a week as the category hits critical mass

The index's thinnest pillar at launch exploded 209% in six days. AI-marketing became the fastest-growing category and now holds the same vendor count as Automation.

On August 3, The Wall's launch index held 34 dedicated AI-marketing vendors, the smallest pillar by nearly a factor of two against Automation's 59. The August 9 snapshot moves the count to 105. That is 71 new listings in six days, a 209% expansion, and the category's growth rate exceeded every other pillar in the index.

The expansion flips the supply map for emerging AI tools. At launch, AI Marketing was the outlier—so young it showed zero Clutch-rating coverage and no published hourly rates. The rapid fill suggests not a change in the market but a change in the index's reach: dedicated AI-marketing firms existed before August 9, but identifying and verifying them took time. The count leveling against Automation (now 94 vendors, up from 59) signals the category has moved from curiosity to consequential supply segment.

What the growth means for buyers

A buyer shopping for AI-marketing capability in early August faced a thin menu: 34 firms, most untested and unrated, with no public pricing standards. That buyer three weeks later has a 105-firm menu, still young relative to the market's 10-pillar average, but thick enough to compare across service shapes. The majority of the new listings remain software—AI tools and platforms—rather than implementation services. For a team looking to adopt an AI-marketing platform, the density is now high enough that a shortlist is buildable without resort to generalist agencies bolting AI onto older service lines.

What the category still needs

Engagement-data coverage remains sparse. Only one firm in the original 34 carried a Clutch rating; the new wave is likely to be the same—most AI-marketing platforms and specialists are too new to have accumulated public review volume. Rate transparency is similarly underdeveloped: zero of the launch 34 published an hourly band, a fact unchanged by the expansion. For buyers, this means less reference data than in every other category, and more reliance on direct evaluation and live demos before commitment. What the index does supply is the full list—every US-based AI-marketing firm with a live website, unranked and unsponsor'd, in one place. The full pillar is browsable in the AI Marketing section.

How this was computed. Figures are computed from The Wall's index of approved, US-based, machine-verified-live listings, using the index snapshot current when each briefing was published: 2,286 listings at launch (August 3, 2026) and 3,460 in the latest snapshot (captured August 9, 2026). Engagement data (rates, minimum project sizes, team sizes, founding years, ratings) are provider-declared figures published on public Clutch profiles; they were present for 1,738 of the 2,286 launch listings, and coverage counts for later snapshots are stated inside each briefing that uses them. Percentages of "disclosed" values exclude listings that publish no figure. Nothing in this briefing is estimated or modeled. Sourcing standards: editorial policy.
